Rivercrest Christian College – Gymnasium LED Wall
Scope
February 2025. A 4 metre by 2 metre LED wall at 1.9mm pixel pitch, mounted high on the timber wall of the school gymnasium on a steel frame designed, fabricated and installed by Cove.
The screen was integrated into the college’s existing content distribution and learning system, so staff drive it from the platforms they already use instead of learning a separate one.
Why a gymnasium is a harder room than it looks
A screen in a sports hall has to survive being in a sports hall. The panels specified here carry mesh protection as standard, which means the wall can live in a gymnasium without the added cost of a glue-on-board build – the usual way of armouring an LED wall against impact, and not a cheap one.
Mounting was the other half of the problem. There was no ready-made bracket for a screen this size at this height on this wall, so Cove designed the steel, had it fabricated and installed it as part of the job rather than sub-letting the structural piece.
Outcome
The wall runs assemblies and school events, and it doubles as a scoreboard for sport – one screen doing the job of a presentation display and a scoreboard, in a room that previously had neither.
It is the second LED installation Cove has delivered at the college, alongside the 6 metre foyer wall. Same integration, same content platform, a very different room.
