This policy explains what personal information Cove Technologies collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. It covers this website and the way we handle enquiries, quotes and marketing. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

When you send us an enquiry or ask for a quote, we collect the details you give us on the form. Depending on the form, that can include your name, your company or venue name, your email address, your phone number, the installation postcode, details about the job you are asking about, and a photo of the install location if you choose to upload one.

When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your name and email address.

When you contact us directly by phone or email, or by clicking the phone number or email address on this site, we collect whatever you tell us and the fact that you got in touch.

Automatically, when you visit the site, we collect your IP address, the approximate location that IP address suggests, your browser and device type, the pages you look at, how long you stay, and the website or advertisement that sent you here.

Forms you start but do not send. Our form software can record what has been typed into a form even if you never press submit. If that happens we may hold those partial details. We use them only to follow up an enquiry that looks like it was interrupted, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.

Why we collect it

  • To answer your enquiry, prepare a quote, and carry out work you ask us to do
  • To keep records of quotes, jobs, warranties and service history
  • To send you marketing email, but only if you have asked us to
  • To understand how the website is used and how well our advertising works
  • To meet our legal, tax and insurance obligations

Cookies and website analytics

This site uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are needed for the site to work. Others are used to measure traffic and advertising.

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-P9E2LR75LS) to understand how people find and use the site, and Google Tag Manager (container GTM-TG3QWPLX) to manage those measurement tags. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address, the pages you view, and events such as submitting a form or clicking our phone number.

You can opt out of Google Analytics in any browser using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising, remarketing and conversion tracking

We advertise through Google Ads (account tag AW-768919245). Two things follow from that.

Remarketing. Google may add your browser to an audience list when you visit this site, so that our advertisements can be shown to you again on Google Search, YouTube and other sites in Google display network. This is based on cookies and device identifiers, not on your name.

Conversion tracking, including enhanced conversions. When you submit a form, click our phone number, or click our email address after arriving from one of our advertisements, we send Google a record that the enquiry happened. As part of this we may also send Google a hashed version of the email address or phone number you entered. Hashing converts the value into an irreversible string before it leaves your browser, so Google receives a code rather than your readable contact details. Google uses it only to match the enquiry back to an advertisement click, and we do not use it to identify you to any other party.

You can control the advertising Google shows you, and turn off ad personalisation, at myadcenter.google.com. Google explains how it uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Email marketing

We send occasional email about screens, service and hire. We only add you to that list if you ask us to, by ticking the box on a form or subscribing to the newsletter, and we confirm the subscription by email before sending you anything. Our email marketing is sent through Mailchimp, a product of Intuit Inc. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. You can also email us and we will remove you.

Asking us for a quote does not put you on the marketing list. The two are separate.

Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else marketing. We do share it with:

  • Google LLC, for website analytics and advertising as described above
  • Intuit Mailchimp, for sending email newsletters
  • Our website host and email delivery providers, who store and transmit the data on our behalf
  • Suppliers, manufacturers and subcontractors, where it is needed to price or deliver the work you have asked for
  • Anyone we are required to disclose to by law

Information sent overseas

Some of the providers above store data outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. By using this site and sending us an enquiry you consent to that disclosure. We take reasonable steps to use providers that handle personal information to a comparable standard.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry, quote and job records for as long as we need them for warranty, insurance, tax and legal purposes, which is generally seven years after the work is finished. Marketing subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Website analytics data is kept according to the retention setting in Google Analytics.

How we protect it

This site is served over an encrypted connection. Access to enquiry records and to our marketing and advertising accounts is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and to destroy or de-identify it when it is no longer needed.

Your choices, and how to reach us

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or unsubscribe from our marketing at any time. Email info@covetech.com.au or call 1300 913 281 and we will respond within a reasonable time, and normally within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information or your complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy
